New World Craftsman style
This four lite craftsman style gate is in Laguna Niguel near Oso Parkway and is a delightful addition to a Craftsman style 2910’s replica. The home is scaled well for the neighborhood and though all the homes are from the early 2000’s would also fit well in a more seasoned neighborhood.
Approaching this home you would swear you just walked into “It’s a Wonderful Life.” All gates are 100% real wood, mostly today I am using Mahogany from the tropical forests of Indonesia. None of the wood is endangered and all forests use a process of keeping them at a sustained level of growth and harvest.
white wooden gates
I have here two very different white wooden gates that were both created to the owner’s wishes. the first was completed with a matching double set which is an entry into a side yard garden. The single gate is the entry to the main house.
This second gate was a single project which formed an entry into the front yard. White is a very good choice for a wood gate, it is very neutral and is a traditional choice for finishing. These gates are using similar hardware, a black flat iron handle and flat iron hinges which give a handsome barn look to the opening. Both windows were framed with handmade four light openings. The wreath makes a nice touch.
Gate in the backyard of a couple of artists home in Dana Point, Orange County, California. These gentlemen designed the gate they wanted, which mimics the design of another gate leading to the rear entry and back patio from the alley and parking area. These gates were hand made of Honduran Mahogany, a pleasure to work with but something I don’t often do because it will triple the cost of any project. I love these gates.
green wood gate, laguna beach
This unique beach gate is located high up above the beaches standing sentinel to the entrance of a very unusual hand-built artist’s cottage. It looks very beach with the green being a bit of a look at the type of coloring wood sometimes has when allowed to wash up and age, tumbled, moss and barnacle encrusted in the surf below Always a pleasure to go to work when you can have places like this to enjoy. This gate uses the matte black iron and clavos from Mexico and has a very Tuscan Old/New World feel.
basic wood replacement gate
Even this basic hardwood replacement gate appears elegant and looks more costly than expected. This gate was very affordable and cost the owners less than they had been quoted
James GateWorks includes the price of wood, iron, hardware, finishing, and professional installation; taking about thirty days from decision to build this improvement until completion. This gate installation was completed in Irvine, California. Another durable and attractive Coastal California project. The tropical hardwoods used for these gates make them long lasting and easy to care for even in this corossive coastal climate.
courtyard Newport Beach
This back yard entry to a paved courtyard in Newport Beach, California is a very beautiful replica
of a type of gate that may have been part of the architecture for any early southwest coastal home. This wood and iron gate is built of durable hardwood and hand wrought iron and lends a touch of authenticity to this historical residence.
