I was very gratful in July of 2003 to get the job of doing this wood gate.  It was part of a project of two gates.  I also did gates for neighbors on both sides of this home, four homes accross the street, and many other homes in the Ladera Ranch, California neighborhoods.

I believe the craftsman style of wood construction says more about the lifestyle of the people of California in the past sixty years than anything else.  I love to create objects of beauty and utility which mimics this quality which I so admire.

The hand-made lattice is something I really enjoy doing.  It adds a feeling of solid construction to the project.  I’ve never used that flimsy store bought stuff.  Mine is much nicer and will probably last longer than you.  The entire door is quality material, quality construction, and made to last.

This native California cottage, overlooking the Pacific ocean has a beautiful open courtyard beyond this custom wood gate entry.  Every time I drive by this wonderful residence I’m warmed by the experience of helping create something so special.

Newport Coast, California

This beautiful hand crafted wood gate was made to secure the courtyard entrance for a home above Crystal Cove on the gorgeous Newport Coast between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.  Just below this vista perfect location is the landmark “Date Shake Shack” where a real treat awaits the casual visitor to drop by for a bit of refreshments while looking out over the beautiful surf below.

This unusual beach beauty looks like it just came ashore.  Antiqued but in no way has this mahogany wood gate lost any of its long lasting endurance.  This gate has been finished to blend with the unique surroundings of the beach cottage put together by its creative inhabitant.

This basic replacement wood gate was a delightful addition to a hillside yard adjacent to the home overlooking the Pacific Ocean in San Clemente, California.  This gate has been finished with a  clear natural finish.  The gate is easy to maintain and will retain its good looks for many years.  The gate and jams were constructed of clear premium mahogany.  This gate was completed in 2010.

These painted white wood gates frame the side yard entrance to a beautiful flowered garden.  They are part of a prject of two sets of gates.  The other gate is a matching single gate, set between stone pilasters and mark the entrance to a courtyard at the front of the home.   This installation was completed about 2003 in Ladera Ranch, California by James Gateworks.
